Let's find it!
If you have a map, then try the coordinates of Machu Picchu are: 13°9′23″ S 72°32′34″ W. But if you don't know how to use coordinates or just have a simple map, then search in Peru's southeastern part, there you must find the city of Cuzco. It is used as a base by most travelers who visit Machu Picchu. From Cuzco, go northwest along the Vilcanota (Urubamba) river, past Mt. Veronica, all the way up to where you see an M-like curvature of the river (if it is represented on your map). Machu Picchu is in the "M", approximately in the middle.
Northeast of the
ruins is Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu
Pueblo), where the train takes travelers, from where they reach
the ruins by bus. |
