TipónYou are now here: Peru & the Andes / Tipón
A rarely visited site, Tipón
The name if Tipón is rather new, not the ancient Inca name of this area, located southeast of the city of Cuzco, towards Puno. The Tipón National Archaeological Park covers about 2200 ha and offers tourists the possibility to see still functioning irrigation systems, built by the Incas. Here is one of the most beautiful such aqueducts, waterways fountains from this part of the country. Agricultural terraces are also present, beautiful creations of the Incas. Few tourists ever wonder to Tipón, it is a good place for photographers, but less impressive than dozens of other places, especially those in the "Valle Sagrado" or Sacred Valley.
